Over the last week, United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN), in partnership with NV Energy, has provided assistance for over 800 seniors with past-due utility bills through its annual Project REACH Senior Expos so far.

The expos continue into next week to further assist seniors in need:

United Way of Southern Nevada’s (UWSN) Project REACH provides financial assistance to seniors ages 62 and older who have past-due utility bills. Eligible seniors may qualify for up to $300 in assistance to help cover overdue electricity, water, trash, propane, or sewer bills. Additionally, eligible seniors may qualify for up to $400 in natural gas assistance through Southwest Gas’ Energy Share program.

Eligibility for assistance is determined at the time of application, and approval for one program does not guarantee approval for the other.

Seniors attending should bring:

  • Nevada Driver’s License or Nevada State ID
  • A copy of their current past-due utility bill (the address on the ID must match the address on the utility bill)
  • Proof of recent income or pending income
