Nevada Office of Traffic Safety Releases May 2026 State Fatal Report

The Nevada Office of Traffic Safety released its May 2026 Statewide Fatal Report, and the numbers have increased compared to this time last year. In May 2026, 32 lives were claimed on Nevada’s roadways compared to 28 in May 2025, marking a 14.29% increase. So far in 2026, there have been 140 road fatalities in Nevada, marking a decrease of 16.17%. Although overall fatalities remain down compared to last year, May’s increase serves as a reminder that traffic-related deaths remain a significant public safety issue requiring ongoing attention and community-wide commitment to safer roadways.
With increased travel expected around Juneteenth weekend, the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety encourages all road users to prioritize safety, plan ahead and practice responsible driving behaviors to help keep Nevada’s roadways safe during the holiday and beyond.
Attached is the state’s May 2026 Fatal Report in full. Please note that this report is a point in time comparison. 2026 data is preliminary and does not necessarily include final reports (Form 5, Coroner, and/or Toxicology reports). 2026 data will not be final until early 2028.
