The Nevada Office of Traffic Safety released its September 2026 Statewide Fatal Report, and the numbers have increased compared to this time last year. In September 2026, 30 lives were claimed on Nevada’s roadways compared to 27 in September 2025, marking an 11.11% increase. So far in 2026, there have been 261 road fatalities in Nevada, marking a decrease of 9.38%. While the decline is a positive sign, every death on Nevada’s roadways is a reminder of the importance of staying alert, making responsible choices and taking steps to prevent crashes.
The Nevada Office of Traffic Safety is reminding drivers and pedestrians to remain vigilant, make responsible choices and take extra care around one another to help prevent crashes and save lives. Drivers should stay focused, obey speed limits, never drive impaired, avoid distractions and yield to pedestrians. Pedestrians should use designated crosswalks, follow pedestrian signals, stay alert and avoid distractions while crossing.
Attached is the state’s September Fatal Report in full. Please note that this report is a point in time comparison. 2026 data is preliminary and does not necessarily include final reports (Form 5, Coroner, and/or Toxicology reports). 2026 data will not be final until early 2028.

Note to reporters: We would appreciate your support in saying ‘crash’ instead of ‘accident’ when reporting. Crashes are completely preventable and not an accident.
About Zero Fatalities
Nevada’s Zero Fatalities Program is all about eliminating fatalities on Nevada roadways. Some people may think zero is an impossible goal, but when it comes to your family and friends, what other number would be acceptable? We’re aiming for zero because everyone matters. The road to zero targets key behaviors like buckling up, being pedestrian and motorcycle safe, eliminating impaired driving, focusing on the road, and stopping on red.
