United Way of Southern Nevada and NV Energy Bring Utility Bill Relief Directly to Southern Nevada Seniors


Eligible seniors across Southern Nevada can access on-site help with 

past-due utility bills at the UWSN Project REACH Senior Expos, powered by NV Energy

LAS VEGAS (August 5, 2026) – United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN), in partnership with NV Energy, is once again bringing past-due utility bill assistance directly to eligible seniors through the annual Project REACH Senior Expos. The expos offer on-site support for past-due utility bills and connect attendees with a variety of community resources and services.

“Many seniors in our community live on fixed incomes and can struggle to cover unexpected expenses,” said Samuel Rudd, UWSN President & CEO. “The Project REACH Senior Expo, powered by NV Energy, connects eligible seniors with financial assistance and community resources that can help them stay financially stable. We appreciate NV Energy and our community partners for helping bring these important services to Southern Nevada.”

“Keeping energy affordable for our customers is one of our highest priorities,” said Tony Sanchez, Executive Vice President, Business Development and External Relations. “Through Project REACH and our partnership with United Way of Southern Nevada, we’re making it easier for eligible seniors to access financial assistance and other resources that can help ease household expenses. We also want customers to know that NV Energy offers a variety of programs, rebates and tools designed to improve energy efficiency and help reduce monthly bills. We’re committed to meeting customers where they are and connecting them with solutions that make a meaningful difference.”

During the expos, representatives from several utility service providers, including NV Energy and Southwest Gas, will be on-site to assist seniors with the utility bill assistance application process.

United Way of Southern Nevada’s (UWSN) Project REACH provides financial assistance to seniors ages 62 and older who have past-due utility bills. Eligible seniors may qualify for up to $300 in assistance to help cover overdue electricity, water, trash, propane, or sewer bills. Additionally, eligible seniors may qualify for up to $400 in natural gas assistance through Southwest Gas’ Energy Share program.

Eligibility for assistance is determined at the time of application, and approval for one program does not guarantee approval for the other.

Seniors attending should bring:

  • Nevada Driver’s License or Nevada State ID
  • A copy of their current past-due utility bill (the address on the ID must match the address on the utility bill)
  • Proof of recent income or pending income
