The Nevada Office of Traffic Safety released its April 2026 Statewide Fatal Report, and the numbers are lower compared to this time last year. In April 2026, 26 lives were claimed on Nevada’s roadways compared to 39 in April 2025, marking a 33.33% decrease. So far in 2026, there have been 105 road fatalities in Nevada, marking a decrease of 24.46%. This decrease reflects fewer fatalities compared to the same period last year and underscores the continued commitment of Nevadans to improving roadway safety across the state. While the progress is encouraging, there is still important work ahead. Every life matters, and together, Nevadans can help make 2026 an even safer year on our roads.
As National Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month and National Bicycle Safety Month continue throughout May, the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety is encouraging residents to plan ahead for safe travel and practice responsible driving behaviors, not only this month, but throughout the year to help reduce roadway injuries and fatalities.
Attached is the state’s April 2026 Fatal Report in full. Please note that this report is a point in time comparison. 2026 data is preliminary and does not necessarily include final reports (Form 5, Coroner, and/or Toxicology reports). 2026 data will not be final until early 2028.

Note to reporters: We would appreciate your support in saying ‘crash’ instead of ‘accident’ when reporting. Crashes are completely preventable and not an accident.
About Zero Fatalities
Nevada’s Zero Fatalities Program is all about eliminating fatalities on Nevada roadways. Some people may think zero is an impossible goal, but when it comes to your family and friends, what other number would be acceptable? We’re aiming for zero because everyone matters. The road to zero targets key behaviors like buckling up, being pedestrian and motorcycle safe, eliminating impaired driving, focusing on the road, and stopping on red.
