Over the past few months I have had the pleasure of getting to work with electronic artist, deadmau5, as we prepared to announce his new partnership with Wynn Las Vegas. This week, we launched into the New Year with a trifecta of celebrations: his birthday, the launch of his exclusive 2012 residency at XS nightclub, and perhaps most notable, Mayor Carolyn Goodman proclaiming it officially “deadmau5 Day” in the city of Las Vegas.

deadmau5, also known as Joel Zimmerman, arrived at the prestigious nightclub just before midnight on Monday, where the XS staff took over the mic to lead thousands of clubgoers in serenading him with “Happy Birthday.” Twenty beautiful cocktail servers marched on stage with a five-tier cake, created by Las Vegas bakery Gimme Some Sugar. Each tier had an iconic theme from the residency announcement where deadmau5 attempted several jobs around Wynn Resorts, including lifeguard and golf caddie, before finding he was best suited performing at XS. The campaign was wildly popular, even gathering attention from Rolling Stone and more than 100,000 views on YouTube <http://youtu.be/qh_XtHebsOQ> .

Just before his set, XS Co-Owner and Managing Partner Jesse Waits presented deadmau5 with the official proclamation on behalf of Mayor Goodman as confetti cannons exploded into the crowd. Zimmerman took the mic and expressed his disbelief in having a day in his honor as his devoted fans erupted in excitement. He immediately jumped behind the booth to kick off his partnership which will include several dates throughout the year at XS and Encore Beach Club. He played until the early hours of the morning, jumping on top of the booth to excite the crowd and even popping a 15L bottle of bubbly for the occasion.

Considering he has a long list of accolades including recently being nominated for three Grammy Awards, I was really moved by how excited he was about this honor. In my mind, he is incredibly deserving, as I’ve seen the crowds that he can pack into the nightclub – even on what would be considered an “off night” – which is ultimately just pushing business and traffic to our great city and helping Las Vegas get back on its feet after a rough economic patch.

I can say – without a doubt – he is someone I’m happy to know. And deadmau5 Day is my new favorite holiday. That’s saying a lot from a girl born on the 4th of July!

A new client that I have been working on has recently allowed me to combine my loved for fashion and PR. Communities In Schools of Nevada held an exclusive preview of Oscar De La Renta’s 2011 resort collection that was presented in partnership by Vogue, Elaine Wynn, Susie Lee and Elizabeth Blau. The swanky evening invited Vegas elite out for cocktails and divine fashions for a great cause.

Shortly after 6 p.m. 75 chic individuals arrived at ALEX inside Wynn Las Vegas as a buzz filled the room with anticipation surrounding the fashionable evening. The black tie affair was attended by Vegas royalty and longtime CISN supporters including PEEPSHOW stars Holly Madison and Josh Strickland.

After a short cocktail hour, Communities In Schools of Nevada’s Board President Susie Lee, addressed the intimate crowd sharing a heartfelt story of a child that was struggling in school. Through a CISN site coordinator it was determined that the student needed glasses; subsequently access to an optometrist was given to the family. After adjusting to his new specs, the young boy excelled in his academics, improving his reading by two grade levels in one month.  She then thanked the fashionably acclaimed for attending and shared that through their continuous support, students are able to excel beyond their imaginable reach, making stories such as the young boy receiving glasses possible.

Following the program, the runway show commenced as models ascended from the staircase to the sunken reception area working their way through groups of revelers, allowing for a close-up look at the stunning pieces. Ruffles and patterns were trending through the waves of models styled in Oscar De La Renta’s one-of-a-kind line, fitting for the woman who call Las Vegas home.

Applause erupted as the final look flowed down the stairway and mental notes of must-have pieces were reminisced. This evening was a taste of heaven to be a part of and I can’t wait to continue working with the Communities In Schools team on future endeavors.

This weekend Holly Madison hosted a special Valentine’s Day affair at Tryst Nightclub at Wynn Las Vegas. Walking the carpet in a red party dress with gold shimmer accents and red peep toe heels, she was joined by her two best friends and Holly’s World co-stars, Josh Strickland and Angel Porrino for the special soiree.

After working for years on nightlife red carpets, I can tell you that Holly Madison is a publicist’s dream. Not only is she stunningly beautiful, but she knows exactly what the media needs and she offers it without question. She is one of the most thoughtful on the red carpet, making sure every photographer has multiple shots that will work for their outlets, and she offers up something fresh and unique to each interview request.

Now transitioning into broadcast herself, Holly glowed when she discussed her new correspondent position with Extra, saying its always been a dream to get more involved in journalism. To show off her new skills, she even took over one on-camera interview to grill Josh on his ideal relationship.

Once inside, the PEEPSHOW entourage was seated at the best table in the club, directly on the dance floor looking out on the venue’s gorgeous 90 ft waterfall. Holly wasted no time to get the party started, as she jumped up on top of their banquette, dancing with her bffs, waving and posing for fans’  photo requests from below. She was overjoyed to see the staff were all dressed in her honor, donning tube socks, short shorts, I Love Holly t-shirts, and even her signature candy necklaces from Sugar Factory. She tweeted a photo out to her followers saying, “The cocktail girls at Tryst are all in Holly costumes!! So cute!”

The staff presented Holly with an immaculate Valentine’s Day cake, a three tier creation by Freed’s Bakery in Las Vegas. Each layer was a giant stacked candy heart, with oversized Valentine’s Day candy and cherries topping it. Aftertaking photos, Holly stuck her finger in it to lick the frosting and once Josh and Angel realized the cake was real, they ripped out a middle section to take a bite of the holiday delight.

It was such a fun evening, and if you had to celebrate Valentine’s Day single, spending it with Holly Madison & company was a pretty good way to go.
