I recently had the opportunity to organize a unique event with the cast of Jersey Boys to benefit HELP of Southern Nevada at Fashion Show mall. The event surrounded a clothing drive and a fashion show where the cast were the models, showcasing the latest looks from Banana Republic’s “Mad Men” collection. The community was invited to see the runway show and bring their new or gently used clothing donations in exchange for the opportunity to meet the cast and win exciting prizes.

One of my favorite parts of the event was when a 2-year-old boy named Braden met the cast. He knows all of Jersey Boys’ music by heart and performed “Big Girls Don’t Cry” for the cast. Braden’s face lit up when the cast joined in from the behind the meet and greet table and he began dancing. Our office has since received a note from Braden’s mom saying, “He is still talking about them all the time!” Check out this video of Braden’s experience here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiYA7FbWD-E
One of the best parts of my job is seeing how big of an effect the cast members have on the community. They are always more than willing to volunteer their time-off to participate in charitable events like this, meet their fans and go above and beyond for a good cause. (In this case, becoming models for an afternoon!)
That afternoon was a huge success and HELP of Southern Nevada received clothing donations that will help dozens of their clients.
Also, a special thanks goes to 8 News Now anchor Dayna Roselli who emceed the event!

Wednesday, April 13 marked the official unveiling of Blue Man Group’s interactive statue at Fashion Show. The 15-foot-tall structure’s presence called for an event to match its glory and what better way to cause a splash than with a cameo appearance by the actual Blue Men.

KVVU Fox 5’s MORE anchor Arran Andersen played host at the event, building suspense among the crowd with Blue Man Group trivia and exclusive prizes. Equally surprised and excited, I was ad-libbed into the production as the official “Vanna White” to Arran pass out Blue Man goodies which included t-shirts, Twinkies (a signature snack from Blue Man Group performances), hats, DVD’s and more. Blue Man Group Captain Meridian, who has been involved with the show for six years, was also in on the action as he assisted Arran with trivia questions and gave the crowd a glimpse into the life of Blue Man Group. As the crowd cheered and chanted, the anticipation grew stronger as everyone waited for the world renowned Blue Men.

Stunning the audience, in true Blue Man Group form, the Blue Men arrived at the statue when everyone least expected it. They were greeted with cheers from onlookers as they discovered their statue for the first time. Similar to their shows, the Blue Men pulled members of the audience to help with the discovery moment. To commemorate the unveiling, Freed’s Bakery of Las Vegas created a larger-than-life Twinkie cake for Blue Man Group. The Blue Men presented a “slice” of the cake with a sparkler on top to Arran, but before he could motion to blow out the sparkler, one of the Blue Men jumped in and extinguished it. Making a grand exit, they took to their slingshot prop and catapulted Twinkies into the crowd as a goodbye present.
The crowd was left thrilled, exhilarated and full of Twinkies! Those who were lucky enough to attend, witnessed an extremely rare occasion of the Blue Men venturing outside their theatre at The Venetian. However, don’t fret if you missed the opportunity, the statue serves as a great substitute and is now on permanent display at Fashion Show. Designed by YESCO LLC exclusively for Blue Man Group Las Vegas, the one-of-a-kind statue features two large, high-definition monitors and an interactive “fan cam.” The fan cam captures video of visitors and broadcasts it live on one of the monitors.  The second monitor features exclusive Blue Man Group clips and content from the show.
Next time you’re hanging out on The Strip, stop by, strike a pose for the fan cam and find out why Operation: Blue Takeover is alive on the Plaza at Fashion Show.
